Murals
The true beginning for my love of art came from street art. Despite my father being an artist and my consistent engagement with art in school, it was the exploration of street art that truly fueled my enthusiasm. Late nights were spent immersed in the works of renowned artists like Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Revoke, Saber, and others, watching their creations come to life on YouTube with friends. The allure of street art, transforming the simple walls into a vibrant canvas, captivated me. After graduating I have had the opportunity to paint some murals of my own and am, consistently seeking opportunities to infuse art into the community.
My most recent Mural completed was for Meadow View elementary in Santa Rosa, California. My wife’s best friend had been working at the school for a couple of years when she overheard the principal talk about her interest in a mural for the 4 wall-ball walls on campus. After some discussion, she wanted a mural theme that gave kids hope in this impoverished area of town. We settled on these images with a purple and black color pallet to match the school colors. This was my largest mural project to date, and taught me many lessons when tackling a project this large.
Another recent project of mine was this giant turbo charger on the side of my friends new auto body shop. He wanted something straight out of early 2000’s video games and we settled on this rainbow and chrome look. We had many plans made to finish this mural with a dazzling video game themed background, but the Covid-19 pandemic changed those plans with him moving away from the auto business.
These last two murals were created on a designated graffiti wall at the Rohnert Park skate park in California. During weekends, I would head out to this space when seeking a break from other art forms. Among the pieces I've produced, these two hold a special place as some of my favorites.
